First impressions count and so it is important to ensure that when buyers pull up outside your home they are seeing the best presentation that your time and budget will allow. Simple things such as ensuring the grass is mowed and neat, bushes and hedges are trimmed back and not overgrown, bins are out of sight, pathways are swept and that windows, doors, railings, and weatherboards are washed down and kept free of dust, dirt and cobwebs.
Internally, we recommend a less is more approach. The last thing a prospective buyer wants to see is a room crammed full to overflowing with furniture and bric a brac, which serves to make it look smaller and detract from its appeal. Removing unused furniture and decluttering your home will be advantageous when the time comes to move also. The Geelong council offers 2 free hard waste collections (on a book in basis) per year and this has been extended until 30th June 2021.
Light and airy is preferable to dark and stuffy, so blinds and curtains should be open in all rooms during inspections to let in as much natural light as possible. Finally, ensure dishes are done, beds are made, clothes are put away and any pets are kept outside for inspections.
These small things can make a world of difference to the presentation of your home.
