As the festive season draws ever nearer and you are gearing up for that inevitable launch into Christmas shopping mode, spare a thought for those in our community who are struggling – those below the poverty line, those living with illness, accident or tragedy, and those marginalised by their differences from what society deems ‘normal’. Christmas can be a very hard time for some. This year, once again, we are supporting the Bethany Giving Tree Appeal and urging all staff, clients and friends to get on board. Now in its 19th year, the Appeal, supported by 93.9 BayFM, has provided gifts to vulnerable families in the Greater Geelong and Barwon regions to instill a bit of cheer at Christmas where the outlook may otherwise be grim.
We have a Giving Tree in the reception area of our office at 55 Myers Street, Geelong and hope to see it brimming with donations of gifts before it is collected on the 13th December for distribution in time for Christmas.
