Geelong’s Building Boom

According to figures quoted by the Geelong Advertiser yesterday, Geelong building approvals jumped a massive 35% in the financial year to June 2021, making the Geelong LGA the building capital of Victoria, with the most approvals issued.

Construction is a key performance indicator for the economy, as it brings with it the need for tradespeople, building materials, landscaping services, the connection of gas, electricity and internet and supplies such as plumbing fixtures, carpets, light fittings and paint, all of which provide a welcome boost to employment.

We have seen first hand why Geelong leads the state. Amenities, lifestyle, access to key services and proximity to both Melbourne and the beaches have proven to be an irresistible drawcard for those choosing Geelong as their desired place to live. It’s no surprise that increased demand this year saw us sell out of some of our most longstanding land estates – Highton Ridge estate, Phalaris Park estate, Sea Breeze estate, Bay Breeze estate and Wandana Rise estate – and this demand has not abated. We expect Geelong will continue this boom for the foreseeable future and look forward to assisting our buyers to find their perfect block.

Until next week,
