First home buyers are eligible for a full stamp duty exemption if the dutiable value of the purchase is $600,000 or less. The property can be an established home and the purchaser must meet the requirements of being a first home buyer and then live in the home for a period of 12 months after settlement. Concessions also apply on a sliding scale if the dutiable value is between $600,001 and $750,000.
New homes also attract the First Home Owners Grant which could mean an additional $10,000 saving for first home buyers.
